Ms. Vavrichek earned her MSW from the University of Maryland. She is a board certified clinical social worker with over 25 years of clinical experience. Prior to joining BTC full-time, Ms. Vavrichek was the supervisor of the Department of Social Work at Ivymount School, a special education facility in Montgomery County, MD. Ms. Vavrichek is an author of The Hair Pulling Habit and You: How to Solve the Trichotillomania Puzzle, a book describing the comprehensive treatment of Trichotillomania in children, The Guide to Compassionate Assertiveness: How to Express Your Needs and Deal with Conflict While Keeping a Kind Heart, and Overcoming Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors. She has particular expertise in the treatment of OCD, Trichotillomania, and other BFRBs, and developmental delays/disabilities. Ms. Vavrichek’s therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy that also incorporates meditation and mindfulness.
