Marian Ruiz, M.A., Pre-Doctoral Psychology Extern

Marian Ruiz is a doctoral student in clinical psychology at the Catholic University of America. Her research focuses on advancing our understanding of suicide and the effectiveness of available treatments. In addition to her research, Marian has experience working with individuals across the lifespan who struggle with various mental health concerns, including anxiety and related disorders, depression, suicide, and autism spectrum disorder.

Broadly, Marian's therapeutic approach is grounded in cognitive-behavioral theory, which suggests that people's thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected. At BTC, Marian aims to utilize empirically supported treatments such as exposure and response prevention (ERP), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to provide clients with the tools necessary to achieve lasting and meaningful change.
